Teresa Seaton creates highly original, dynamic landscape and floral designs in Stained Glass for galleries and private commissions. Her uniquely sculptural work is a trademark; featuring multi layers of panels and glass with spun wire incorporated as a structural element and design accent.

She is inspired by Tiffany’s innovative technique for layering multiple panels into finished glass windows as well as the dynamic simplicity of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie Glass style. The resulting panels display an elegant simplicity filled with rhythmic patterns and flowing organic lines.

Her interpretation of the Canadian landscape uses layered glass panel construction to evoke the stylized outlined imagery often found in the Group of Seven. Her use of a refined colour pallet creates a mood and atmosphere that is distinctive to her work and reflective of her artistic message, making her one of Canada’s most sought after Stained Glass artist.

Teresa Seaton studied Graphic Design at Sheridan College and obtained the degree, BFA in drawing and sculpture from York University. Her career in design led her to positions as Senior Designer, Associate Creative Director and Creative Director with clients from Toronto to New York. Teresa studied the craft of stained glass with Paul Beatty starting in 2001 and has operated as a full time artist since 2010.

In 2007 she became chair for Art in Action. She helped define Art in Action Burlington Studio Tour as a go to cultural event that showcases many talented local artists and artisans and brings a growing number of art lovers to the community. As well she helped to establish a scholarship to a Burlington graduating High School Student continuing their post secondary studied in the arts

In 2013 she opened her Studio & Gallery in Burlington, ON. As well as giving her a place to showcase her own artwork she has opened her Gallery to other Canadian artists by showcasing them for 2 months at a time.

In 2012 she became a founding member of AGOG. Artistic Group of Glass. Exhibiting only original designs through use of traditional techniques and contemporary styling, we are an eclectic mix of high quality fine artists.  Our Group offers stunning examples of Leaded Glass, Copper Foiling, Mosaic and Fused Fine Art Glass. With its combined experience of 70 years, our artists have not only perfected their craftsmanship but have pushed it past the limitations of the “craft “ stereotypes.

2013 she became a steering committee member of the Arts and Culture Collective of Burlington. Their mission was to influence city council to define an Art and Culture Department and Arts Council in Burlington where non existed.

A member of the Ontario Crafts Council, The Glass Association of Canada and the Ontario Clay and Glass Association (FUSION), Teresa received an Ontario Art Council grant in 2010. Her work has been shown in The Angie Strauss Gallery in Niagara on the Lake, McMaster Innovation Park, The McMichael Canadian Gallery and Glass under Grass at the Royal Botanical Gardens.
